60,000+ tourists visited Bulgarian properties in Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi in August 2011

The museum of the Bulgarian Revival and Constituent Assembly, the Archaeological museum and the Sarafkina’s House – museum are three of the most visited Bulgarian Properties in Veliko Tarnovo.

The municipality tourism agency “Tsarevgrad Tarnov” reported that in August close to 62,000 tourists visited the museums in Veliko Turnovo and Arbanassi, Central Northern Bulgaria.

 

Statistically 9,381 are secondary school students 3,685 school children, 3,677 university students, and 23,090 foreign visitors. from the start of 2011 visitors to the museum properties in Veliko Tarnovo were 155,172. The top site in terms of numbers who visited in the month of August 2011 was the Tsarevets architectural reserve. From among the foreign tourists, that visited Tsarevets more than 10,500 came from European countries, close to 4600 - from Russia, 1 173 from France, 1 142 from Romania and 734 from the visitors were from Asia.

In August 2011 1,422 tourists visited the middle age churches in Veliko Tarnovo. Some of the most visited places in the old capital are the museum of the Bulgarian Revival and Constituent Assembly, the Archaeological museum and the Sarafkina’s House.

The most visited place in Arbanassi in August 2011 was the church of the Nativity, viewed by 5,879 tourists, from which 5,265 were foreigner tourists. 4,321 visited The Konstantsalieva’s house and 625 – the church of Ss. Archangels Michael and Gabriel. However, only 380 tourists visited the archaeological reserve "Nicopolis ad Istrum"

Bulgaria is a remarkable country having a diversified terrain and a diversified workforce who are especially IT literate and highly multilingual.

Town houses, flats and apartments. Veliko Tarnovo town is without doubt an area ready for further growth. Quality real estate in Veliko Tarnovo is currently about 25% to 45% cheaper than other European historical towns. Costs are around 400 to 650 Euros per sq. metre. The town offers a good investment opportunity, with steady rental demand expected from the university and organizations relocating to Bulgaria and Veliko Tarnovo. Corporate lettings should give consistent assured rental with minimal risk especially since the expansion and development of BPO companies and contact centres. Prices range from around 25-35,000 for a 1 bedroom apartment to 65,000 euros for a large 2 bedroom and rare 3 bedroom apartments for under 100,000 euros. for a town centre apartment with fantastic views and amenities expect to pay upwards of 65,000 Euros. Houses with a small garden range between 50,000 Euros to 200,000 Euros dependent upon size, garden and location.


Rural investments. The countryside seriously does provide the least expensive real estate. Bulgaria is a magnificent and stunning country with so much diversity especially in the Veliko Tarnovo region. It is approximately the same area as the UK but with a population 8,000,000! The infrastructure consequently can be inflicted by storms and snow, especially in real isolated locations nevertheless completely detached Bulgarian properties a couple decares of land are easy to come by for less than 10,000 euros, all be it they generally need some modernisation!

In conclusion even for investors with the tightest of budgets below 10,000 euros, a viable and livable property is often purchased with water and electricity and a telephone line and for those seeking to develop a portfolio of properties and land, all the areas of North Central Bulgaria give wonderful affordable options with good potential for future gains in the coming years.

Earthquake jolted Sofia and Pernik, felt in Veliko Tarnovo with many aftershocks

Not a good start to the day on 22nd May 2012 at 3-00am local time a Richter scale 5.9 earthquake jolted Pernik and Sofia with the village Rudartsi sitting on top of the epicentre! Thankfully no serious casualties reported.
The epicentre of the quake is shown on the map below and it can clearly be seen how close it was to Sofia.
I slept through it but some people as far away as Veliko Tarnovo claim they felt it and it woke them up!
